New Riding Facility Named

A new riding facility located on the Hants County Exhibition Grounds has just been named after a long time instructor. The indoor facility will be called the Dexter Construction Company Ltd. Mary Henry Equi-Center. The new name was unveiled on Friday during the Avon Pony Club’s Spring Horse Show. Mary Henry who has been a long time riding instructor was on hand to see the unveiling of the new sign for the facility. The indoor facility was completed last April and will now allow riders the ability to ride all year round no matter the weather.
Tourism Agency to Call Windsor Home

There is going to be a new home for the Nova Scotia Tourism Agency. The provincial government has chosen the former Black Bear Tavern location on Upper Water Street in Windsor. The new 7,363 square foot location will host 37 employees but only 15 current employees have committed to relocating to the town. The space will cost just over 137,000 dollars to lease in the first year and should be up and running by the end of the year.
C.B. man wins millions in lottery

A retired Parks Canada employee from Cape Breton and his wife have won over $3.2 million dollar jackpot in Wednesday's Lotto 6/49 draw.
Raymond and Gaye Lillington of Dingwall were joined by one of their five children, their 18-year-old son, at Atlantic Lottery headquarters in Moncton to accept the cheque Friday afternoon.
Raymond says his wife is a seasonal worker, who will now join him in retirement.
He plans to use some of the money to help his children and grandchildren, fix up his home, and buy a truck.
Excavator falls into ocean

A shaken, but unhurt excavator operator was able to escape through the open roof hatch when a breakwater under construction near Digby wharf gave way Friday morning, taking the large machine, along with its driver into the Annapolis Basin.
By the time high tide rolled in, the entire excavator was completely submerged.
Digby Port Manager Jeff Sunderland says a ramp will be built down to the machine, and a larger excavator will attempt to extricate the sunken one at low tide.
The RCMP is investigating.
Sen. Wallin resigns from Conservative caucus

Another Conservative senator has been driven from the Tory caucus over questionable expense claims.
Pamela Wallin says she'll sit as an independent while external auditors investigate more than $320,000 in travel expenses.
The former broadcaster and journalist now represents Saskatchewan in the Senate.
Wallin's resignation from caucus comes one day after Senator Mike Duffy stepped down over controversial housing expense claims.
Three arrested in allegedly stolen vehicle

Three people are facing charges in connection with the alleged theft of a vehicle.
Police say they got a tip that a Honda Accord, stolen from the Bible Hill area, had been spotted on Akerley Boulevard in Dartmouth around 5:40 Friday evening.
Officers located the unoccupied vehicle and set up surveillance.
Police say three people were seen getting in the car little after 6:30, police pulled it over and arrested the occupants without incident.
A 24-year-old Cole Harbour man faces charges of theft, possession and breach of probation. He'll be held in custody until a Tuesday court appearance.
A 23-year-old man from Greenwood and a 21-year-old Carroll's Corner woman were released to appear in court at a later date on theft and possession charges. Police say the woman's also facing drug-related charges.
